x + y = 360
x =0.25y
substitute x = 0.25y into x + y = 360
x + y = 360
0.25y + y = 360
1.25y = 360
y = 288
x = 288 (0.25) = 72
Jose has 72 stamps
Maria has 288 stamps
288 - 72 = 216
