Una leyenda contiene algunos hechos y se vuelve exagerada hasta el punto de que las personas o eventos reales adquieren una calidad "más grande que la vida". Por el contrario, un mito no se basa en hechos, sino que es una narración simbólica que nunca se basó en hechos.
