If you walked 5 miles down a trail and then walked 2 1/4 miles back, how many miles away are you from your starting point?

First lets figure out 2 and 1/4 as a decimal 
2 and 1/4 = 2.25 
So now we subtract 
5 - 2.25 = 2.75 
She is 2.75 miles away from her starting point
